UTSFC wins two gold at the first National Circuit competition.

Frank Bartolillo and Min Yi Du took out the Gold in the Men’s Foil and Women’s Sabre respectively.

UTS Fencing Club’s Junior National Representatives

Following the success of Joe Slowaiczek, Gold medallist Men’s Foil, Individual and Team, Alex Carioti, Gold medallist Men’s Foil Team at Commonwealth Junior Championships held in Chennai last month, our cadet and junior fencers have dominated NSW fencing competitions at both age and senior levels.

Our congratulations to the these fencers who have been selected to represent Australia at the Cadet and Junior World Championships to be held in Korea in April.

UTS juniors shine again at the NSW State U/20 Championships

The junior members of the UTS Fencing Club are the promising stars of the future coming away with 3 Gold and 3 Bronze medals.

UTS Fencing Club gets top results at Junior World Cup Tournaments

UTS fencers Joe Slowiaczek and Alex Carioti have finished a European Junior World Cup tour with some strong results.

They started in Luxembourg where they both made the top 32 in the Foil event, with Joe placed 28th and Alex 31st. Joe also competed in the Epee event where he placed 16th. They then moved on to Spain where Alex made the top 32, placing 29th and Joe came an awesome 3rd!

With the World Cup points that they picked up on the tour, Joe is now ranked 36th and Alex 152nd in the World for Junior Foil and in the Epee Joe is ranked 153rd.

Both of these young fencers will be representing Australia at the Commonwealth Junior Championships to be held in India in January next year.

Oceania and Australian Championships 2005

UTS Fencing Club excelled again at the Oceania and Australian Championships which were held from September 30 to October 4 in Sydney.

Of special note is that UTSFC members made up 4 out of 8 of the Men’s Foilist finalists and 3 out of the top 4 with a UTSFC member involved in taking out every gold medal available in Men’s Open Foil.

In total the medal haul was 6 National gold, 5 Oceania gold, 6 Silver, 7 Bronze

Oceania U/17 Championships 2005

Two of UTS Fencing Club’s younger members travelled to New Zealand to compete in the Oceania U/17 Championships held in Christchurch from September 24th.

David Donato followed on from winning the trophy for Best Boy Senior Division A at the Schools League Grand Final, with a 3rd place in the Men’s Foil and 9th in the Men’s Epee. Teneille Murray placed 8th in the Women’s Sabre and 13th in the Women’s Foil.

NSW State Championships 2005

UTS has again finished with 5 out of 6 State Open Individual Titles after the State Championships finished on September 18.

In total the medal haul was 5 gold, 4 Silver, 6 Bronze with sisters Dione Vosper and Adele Haswell regaining the titles they won last year with Dione almost making it a double when she met Adele in the Women’s Epee Gold Medal bout.

UTS Fencing Club’s Junior fencers excel at U/17 Nationals

Joe Slowiaczek once again showed that he is one of the countries most promising fencers taking home 5 gold medals with Paul Leone Jnr also grabbing 3 gold and a silver medal. In the Women’s, Karin Wang also performed well with 2 gold, 1 silver and a bronze medal.
