UTS Fencing Club Novice Competition

UTS Fencing Club held their first competition for fencers who have completed the Beginners and Intermediate Classes.

UTS Fencing Club makes it a clean sweep for the State Team Championships

UTS has taken out all 6 State Team Titles by winning the Women and Men’s Sabre teams.

We fielded 3 teams for the Men’s competition taking out Gold and Silver and 5th place.

UTS dominates the Men’s Foil at the latest National Circuit Competition

The gold medal match was between two UTS fencers, with Frank Bartolillo grabbing the gold from Joe Slowiaczek.

Also to be noted were the strong performances by other members of the UTS Men’s Foil Competition Training Squad with Ashley Yue placed 13th, Paul Leone Jnr 21st and David Donato 27th.

UTS takes out Gold and Bronze in Italian Relay

UTS won back the Italian Relay crown from Sydney University in an intense match. UTS got off to a good start and managed to defend the lead against their tough opponents.

The UTS B team defeated the Sydney University B team to take out the bronze with the C team missing out on the final by one hit.

UTS picks up 6 medals at Tex Clark Epee

UTS won 2 silver and 4 bronze medals on the weekend. The UTS women dominated the event taking out 3 of the 4 medals and also picking up a Bronze in the B Final. In the men’s event Joe Slowiaczek again showed his good form by picking up a Bronze with Myles Wilmott getting the Bronze in the B final.

UTS Fencing Club hands out Annual Awards for Excellence

At the club’s Annual Formal Dinner, the awards were presented by Judy Johnston, Chair, UTS Union Board.

Four out of four for UTS Fencing Club at the State Teams Championships

UTS has taken out all of the four State Team Championship events held so far this year.

Joe Slowiaczek maintained his great form anchoring the Men’s Epee Team with Dione Vosper a strong finisher for the Women’s Foil Team.

With UTS fielding 3 Men’s Foil teams and a Women’s Epee team we were well represented and dominated the competition.

Special mention needs to be made for the Men’s Foil B Team who only lost for 3rd place by 1 hit.

Joe Slowiaczek has spearheaded the latest lot of results for UTS Fencers. He has been dominating Men’s Foil at both State and National, Junior and Open competitions and has now headed off for the World Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships being held in Linz, Austria.
